Our Story

How this became the job

We build, repair, and refinish decks around Phoenix, working with homeowners who want a deck they can actually stand on without wondering about it. Most of us got into this trade doing framing or general carpentry and ended up specializing in decks because the work rewards doing it carefully the first time.

If you're on this page, there's a good chance a board is soft, a post is loose, or the whole structure just doesn't feel right when you walk on it anymore. We pull the decking to look at the joists and ledger connection before quoting anything, because a deck that looks fine on top can still have a rotted beam underneath. Fixing what's visible without checking what's holding it up is how a deck fails again in a year instead of staying solid for the next fifteen.

Why Choose Us

What you get when you hire us

None of this is complicated. It is mostly just doing what we said we would do.

Licensed & Insured

Ask for our license and insurance certificates before we start, we hand them over without hesitation. If a jobsite accident happens, you're not the one covering it.

Permit-Ready Plans

Maricopa County and most Phoenix-area cities require a permit for anything attached to the house or over a certain height. We draw the plans to code and deal with the inspector so you don't have to learn the process.

Clean Job Sites

Deck framing throws off a lot of scrap wood and screws, and we don't leave it in the yard overnight. Kids and pets end up back in that space, so we sweep it before we leave.

Written Estimates

The estimate breaks down lumber, hardware, and labor separately, so you can see where the money goes. If something changes mid-job, we tell you before we do it, not after it shows up on the invoice.

Local Crew

A deck built for Seattle rain doesn't hold up the same way under 115-degree sun and dust storms. We build for the conditions this valley actually has, not a generic spec sheet.

Material Options

Composite costs more up front but skips the yearly staining, pressure-treated pine costs less but takes more upkeep in this sun. We'll walk you through the tradeoff instead of just selling you the most expensive board.

Common Questions

Things people ask us

Questions about how we work and who's doing the job.

How long have you been building decks?
Deck construction and repair has been the focus of the work for years, after starting out in general carpentry and framing. That background carries into every deck job, from sizing joists correctly to knowing how a ledger connection needs to be flashed.
Do you use your own crew or subcontractors?
Deck jobs are handled by the same crew from the first site visit through the final walkthrough, not passed off to subcontractors partway through. That keeps one set of hands accountable for the framing, the railing, and everything in between.
Can I see photos of decks you've built before?
Photos of completed deck projects, including framing shots taken before the decking went down, are available on request. Seeing the framing matters more than the finished photos, since that's the part that determines how the deck holds up over time.
Why should I hire a smaller deck builder instead of a large remodeling company?
A smaller deck-focused operation means the person quoting the job is usually the same person overseeing it, instead of a sales rep handing it off to a rotating crew. That tends to mean fewer miscommunications about material choice, layout, or timeline.
Where are you based, and what's your service area?
Work is based out of the Phoenix area, covering the city itself along with Mesa, Chandler, Scottsdale, Gilbert, and other towns within roughly a 50-mile drive.
How far out are you currently booking new deck projects?
Booking windows shift with the season, running two to four weeks out for most of the year and longer during the busy spring and fall months. A current estimate on availability comes with the first phone call or site visit.
Do you clean up the job site after a deck project?
Scrap lumber, old decking torn out during a rebuild, and leftover hardware get hauled off the same day work wraps up. The yard isn't left with a pile of construction debris waiting for a second trip.
What happens if something gets damaged on my property during construction?
Liability insurance covers damage to landscaping, siding, or other property that happens during deck construction or demolition. Any issue gets reported and addressed directly rather than left for the homeowner to discover after the crew has left.
Will you finish a deck project that another contractor started or abandoned?
Taking over a partially built or abandoned deck project happens fairly often, though it starts with an inspection of what's already framed. Footings, ledger attachment, and joist sizing from the prior work get checked against code before any new decking goes on top.
How can I tell if a deck was built correctly?
A properly built deck has no bounce or flex when you walk across it, a ledger board bolted and flashed against the house rather than just nailed, and joist spacing tight enough to support the decking material used. Footings set below the frost or caliche line and railing that doesn't wobble when pushed are also signs of solid construction.
